ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Andrei Perumal is managing partner and cofounder of management consultancy Wilson Perumal & Company, the leading advisor to companies on how to thrive in a complex world; and coauthor of Waging War on Complexity Costs. He advises senior executives and government leaders on issues of strategy, complexity, and operations, combining significant consulting, management, and technical experience. He excelled in the U.S. Navy’s nuclear propulsion program, as a strategy consultant with Bain & Company, and later as a principal and leadership team member with George Group Consulting’s operations strategy practice.

Andrei has held industry roles with Beal Aerospace Technologies, where he drove the development and operation of a hydrogen peroxide rocket propellant plant, and later was handpicked by Andy Beal (#42 on Forbes list of wealthiest Americans) to be head of strategic operations for Beal Bank, the most profitable bank in the United States. Also, as a young intern with Rockwell’s Space Systems Division, Andrei independently developed novel analysis that helped avert a major space shuttle launch delay. Andrei holds an aeronautical engineering degree from MIT.

Stephen A. Wilson is managing partner and cofounder of management consultancy Wilson Perumal & Company. He works with senior leadership teams in businesses and private equity firms in North America and Europe, advising them on critical strategy, operations, and innovation questions. Stephen has 20 years of experience working across industry, and in particular supports clients in consumer goods, industrial goods, services, and retail. He has written extensively on the topics of growth strategy, cost-competitiveness, and organizational development, and on the issue of how to compete in today’s complex world.

He is coauthor of Waging War on Complexity Costs and Conquering Complexity in Your Business, both published by McGraw-Hill. He has also written articles for Agenda (a Financial Times publication), Chief Executive magazine, Investor’s Business Daily, and CNBC.com. Stephen previously worked with strategy firm Marakon, and later became a principal and leadership team member with George Group Consulting. He holds an MBA in finance and strategic management from the Wharton School.
