In this chapter, we have differentiated between Continuous Integration, Delivery, and Deployment processes and included how each is equally important in achieving an effective pipeline. We have identified efficiency points on setting up a Jenkins server on different platforms, and also set up a server on Docker. Lastly, we have gained a high-level understanding of user management and access control.

In the following chapters, we shall demonstrate the effect access control has on Jenkins resources through plugin management and updates and upgrades to Jenkins and its resources. In most, if not all cases, only a user with the correct set of privileges has the ability to run and manage these services, as we shall find out.
