Voxelab Aquila S2
$279 voxelab3dp.com
Voxelab is the budget arm of Flashforge,
a popular 3D printer brand, and the price
on this machine really drives home the
meaning of “budget.”
Assembling this printer was slightly
more work than I’m used to with cheap
systems, but it wasn’t as complex as a full
kit either. Unlike many modern printers,
there’s no auto bed leveling or filament
runout sensor, but my initial experiences
with it have been surprisingly good. After
manually leveling the (removable and
flexible) print bed, it has been printing
quite nicely without issue. The Aquila S2
can get up to 300°C, which is actually a
big selling point, especially for such a
cheap printer.
Dremel Multi-Max
Oscillating Tool
$159 dremel.com/us/en
An oscillating tool is one of those devices
that you might rarely need, but the second
you find a use for one, you’re immensely
happy you have one on hand. Dremel’s
latest offering, the Multi-Max 20V, brings
a few nice features to the table. The 20V
battery supplies enough power to keep
this thing from feeling anemic, but is also
quite low profile, so it won’t get in the
way when you’re reaching into awkward
spaces to cut. Dremel has also angled the
cutting head a bit, which seems like an
obvious upgrade but this is the first time
I’ve seen it. Swapping tool heads is super
easy with their tool-less accessory
change design. It's a good one to keep in
your toolbox for those moments you might
not anticipate.
