Setting Up Windows Icons

It is relatively easy to set up icons for the new applications we created. In addition, it is easier to copy an existing icon and change its properties than to set up one from scratch. Figure 6.26 shows the icons that were configured for the Sales Tracking application. Each of these icons was copied from existing icons by right-clicking the desired icon and selecting Create Shortcut. You can right-click the newly created icon and then use the Rename option to give the new icon a descriptive name. Right-click the same icon again and select Properties from the menu. Click the center Shortcut tab, where you will see the actual program name in the Target field. For Oracle Forms, add the full operating system path and name of the .fmx program to be run when this icon is selected after this program name. For Oracle Reports, enter the full path of the .RDF file. In SQL*Plus scripts, add the same information that you would use in a DOS command window. After the program name, enter userid/passwd@<tnsnames> @<full path & SQL*Plus script>.SQL. The ST_INVENTORY_DETAIL report has a target line that looks similar to this:

C:ORANTBINPLUS80W.EXE sales_tracking/sales_tracking@orcl @c:disksque9i_development_by_examplesales_tracking_pgmsst_inventory_detail.sql

NOTE

The ST_INVENTORY_DETAIL report target line should be typed as all one line. The symbols are to help the line fit within the character requirements of this page.
