Java Development Tools
Chapter 8, “Building Web Sites with Oracle9i,” discusses various methods of deploying Java-based programs across a computing network. The applets, servlets, and Java-based programs all must be developed with some kind of Java development language. Many of these are available on the market today, such as Visual Café, Visual Age, and JBuilder.
NOTE
Applet— When accessed, it is loaded to the user's Web browser and run on the local PC or workstation.
Servlet— When accessed, it is run on the server, returning the output to the user's Web browser.
This chapter uses Oracle's JDeveloper v3.0.
