Chapter 10. Thunderdrum

Although there is much to commend durable x-ray film to neophyte drum crafters, perhaps its most notable quality is that it can be pierced without tearing, even when stretched. X-rays are thus ideal for this unconventional metal-bodied thunderdrum, which relies on a resonating spring mounted through its drumhead in order to produce its formidable rumble. We’ll also install an acoustic pickup on this drum so that the thunder can be routed into effects and amplified.
