Elastic search is an indexing engine built on top of Lucene. Elastic search provides its users with the ability to search across the set of documents seamlessly using queries that are intuitive. Whenever I think of elastic search, I always think of the free text search capability of elastic search. Free text Search simply means that instead of providing a structured query (think SQL) to the underlying data store, you simply type the words you want to search for. For example, if you are looking for information on specific APTs (Advanced Persistent Threat Actors), you can simply provide the name of the APT to Elastic Search and it will do the rest.

Elastic search is the perfect tool if you want to build an analytics pipeline on top of your data.
