LISA Z. FAIN brings a rich and varied background to her work as CEO of the Center for Mentoring Excellence. She is highly regarded for her special combination of leadership development knowledge, diversity and inclusion expertise, humor, and a no-nonsense practical approach.

Lisa holds an undergraduate degree in social policy and a law degree from Northwestern University. She practiced law for thirteen years, first as a labor and employment law litigator at a major multinational law firm and then as in-house labor counsel at Outerwall, Inc., the former parent company to automated retail giants Coinstar and Redbox. While at Outerwall, she created and then transitioned to senior director of diversity and inclusion.

Under Lisa’s leadership, the Center for Mentoring Excellence serves a diverse and broad array of clients, including global corporations, associations and NGOs, world-class law firms, professional sports franchises, and not-for-profit community organizations. Lisa consults with CME clients, helping them to create more inclusive work environments and to develop, establish, and deliver best-in-class mentoring programs. A frequent keynote speaker in the United States and Europe, Lisa sits on the boards of the International Mentoring Association and Military Mentors.

Lisa lives in Mercer Island, Washington, with her husband and two teenage daughters.

LOIS J. ZACHARY is an internationally recognized expert on mentoring and the founder of Leadership Development Services, LLC, and its Center for Mentoring Excellence. She earned her doctorate in adult and continuing education from Columbia University and master’s degrees from Columbia University and Southern Illinois University.

She is the author of multiple books on mentoring. Her first book, The Mentor’s Guide (2000), has become a primary resource for organizations interested in promoting mentoring for leadership and learning and for mentors seeking to deepen their mentoring practice. With Creating a Mentoring Culture (2005), The Mentee’s Guide (2009), the second edition of The Mentor’s Guide (2012), Starting Strong (2014), five Mentoring Excellence Pocket Toolkits, and hundreds of articles and blogs, Lois has created a comprehensive set of resources for promoting her lifetime passion: mentoring excellence for individuals and organizations.

Lois’s innovative mentoring approaches and expertise helping leaders and organizations design, implement, and evaluate learner-centered mentoring programs have been used globally by a wide array of clients, including Fortune 100 companies, NGOs, government organizations, educational institutions, and numerous profit and nonprofit entities.
