About the Authors

Troy McMillan is a Product Developer and Technical Editor for Kaplan Cert Prep as well as a full time trainer and writer. He became a professional trainer 12 years ago teaching Cisco, Microsoft, Comptia and Wireless classes.

Troy’s book CCNA Essentials by Sybex Publishing was released in November 2011. It has been chosen as the textbook for both online and instructor led classes at several colleges in the US.

He also served as a contributing Subject Matter Expert for Kaplan’s CCNA Cisco Certified Network Associate Certification Exam Preparation Guide. His other recent work includes:

• Co-author of the VMWare VCP Review Guide with Brian Perry, Chris Huss, and Jeanne Fields on Sybex. Released in the spring of 2011

• Contributing author and technical editor of Todd Lammle’s Network + Study Guide by Sybex, set for release in January, 2012

• Author of Change Your Career: Computer Network Security as Your New Profession by Kaplan Publishing in 2007

• Technical Editor for Toby Skandier’s Street Smarts, a hands-on guide to Network + topics set for release in January 2012

• Technical editor for Bill Ferguson’s Network + Review Guide set for release in January 2012

• Practice exam author for the Security+ Cert Guide by David Prowse by Pearson Publishing

• Prep question writer for Network+ Study Guide Sybex in 2010

• Technical editor for Windows 7 Study Guide Sybex in 2011

• Contributing author for the CCNA-Wireless Study Guide by Todd Lammle by Sybex in 2010

• Co-author of the A+ Review Guide for 220-801/220-802 on Sybex released in Sept 2012.

Troy also is a courseware developer. Among the work he has done in this area is wireless training materials for Motorola in 2011 and instructor materials for a series of books by Sybex on Windows Server 2008 R2 in 2011.

Troy also teaches Cisco, Microsoft, Compita and Security classes for several large corporate training companies. Among these are Global Knowledge and New Horizons

He now creates certification practice tests and study guides for the Transcender and Self-Test brands. Troy lives in Atlanta, Georgia.

Robin M. Abernathy has been working in the IT certification preparation industry at Kaplan IT Certification Preparation, the owners of the Transcender and Self Test brands, for over a decade. Robin has written and edited certification preparation materials for many ISC2, Microsoft, CompTIA, PMI, Cisco, and ITIL certifications and holds multiple IT certifications from these vendors.

Robin provides training on computer hardware and software, networking, security, and project management. Over the past couple years, she has ventured into the traditional publishing industry by technically editing several publications. More recently, she has presented at technical conferences and hosted Webinars on IT certification topics.
