9.12 Instruction for completing the
Organizational Culture Questionnaire
The purpose of the Organization Culture Questionnaire (OCQ) is to gauge
the type of culture serving as the foundation of the organizations systems.
In completing the OCQ you will be providing a picture of important attri-
butes of the organization. The OCQ consists of 28 questions designed to
provide an indication of cultural elements applicable to your organization.
9.12.1 Survey instruction
1. Read each question carefully and rank your response based on your
perception of organizational performance from 1 to 8.
2. Fill in the response that you believe most closely represents your
organizations performance for each question. Please only select one
response for each question.
3. Once all questions have been completed use the culture continuum
shown in Figure9.1 to determine where your culture is located based
on the average results contained from the response to the questions.
Once the culture mean for the questions has been obtained and com-
pared to the culture continuum, the result can be further claried and
interpreted by using Table9.9.
