CIRCLES IN TORN PAPER
CONTINUE TO EXPLORE SIMPLE DESIGN WITHOUT RULES USING TORN PAPER IN CIRCULAR SHAPES. TEARING PAPER CREATES ORGANIC AND PAINTERLY FORMS FOR MAKING YOUR OWN MODERN ART MOSAIC.
MATERIALS
Newspaper or large craft paper
Gray and white lightweight paper or cardstock for tearing
Black heavy cardstock for background
Inexpensive flat brush for applying decoupage or gel medium
Decoupage or gel medium
White gel pen
1. Cover your work space with newspaper or large craft paper.
2. Tear circles out of the gray and white papers. Vary the sizes for interest. (See A.)
3. Place the circles on the contrasting black cardstock in the design of your choice. (See B.)
4. Brush the decoupage medium onto the back of the circles and glue down your design.
5. Weight under a heavy book until dry.
6. For added interest, draw directional lines within the negative spaces using the white gel pen (opposite).
