This chapter described how a hybrid approach to SharePoint Products and Technologies branding provides a unified set of functionality greater than the sum of the individual parts. Begin the process of branding using customizations that can be accomplished via the browser, and use them to the greatest degree possible. For requirements that cannot be met via browser-based customizations, use SharePoint Designer 2007 to leverage the experience of Web designers and to provide a rapid design and prototyping of customizations. To deploy branding content beyond the single site collection scope, use Visual Studio to create Windows SharePoint Services Solution Packages for wide-ranging deployment. No single tool provides all of the functionality required for a successful branding effort. Using the full suite of tools, paired with the appropriately skilled professionals, will provide the foundation for a successfully branded SharePoint Products and Technologies implementation.
