The Editor

B. A. Prakash was Professor and Head of the Department of Economics, University of Kerala, Kariavattom, Thiruvananthapuram. Formerly, he was a Professor in the Department of Economics, University of Calicut, Kerala, where he had been teaching since 1976. He is a recipient of two prestigious fellowships—the Young Social Scientist Fellowship of the Indian Council of Social Science Research (1980–82) and Career Award of the University Grants Commission (1986–89). Professor Prakash has also worked as a member of a number of study groups/committees constituted by the Government of Kerala and the State Planning Board. Besides the publication of research papers in leading journals, he has edited four books, which are Kerala’s Economy: Performance, Problems and Prospects (1994), Kerala’s Economic Development: Issues and Problems (1999), Kerala’s Economic Development: Performance and Problems in the Post-Liberalization Period (2004) and The Indian Economy Since 1991: Economic Reforms and Performance (2009).
