Along with increased performance from hardware-based, floating point support, the Cortex-M4- and Cortex-M7-based MCUs also have optional digital signal processing (DSP) functionality baked into the hardware, which can greatly accelerate some complex algorithms and potentially help reduce the coding burden for firmware engineers.
