By now, you should already be familiar with the default interface of VSCode and how its layout looks. See the following screenshot:

To configure any settings related to VSCode, select File | Preferences | Settings or hit Ctrl +, to bring up the settings menu. There are a multitude of different settings you can modify to make VSCode fit your needs. In the beginning, you might want to edit the PowerShell-specific settings for the PowerShell extension to VSCode. Simply type PowerShell when in the settings menu and select from the many available settings, as shown in the following screenshot:

The most commonly used settings include the code formatting settings, such as opening braces on a new line or on the same line. If you are not sure, go back to Chapter 4Advanced Coding Techniques, where we introduced some best practices. By changing a couple of settings, you can ensure that you automatically stick to basic best practices.
