Authentication is the process of verifying the identity of the user via credentials. If the credentials are correct, the user is authenticated. A very simple example of authentication is accessing our mail account. Whenever a user wants to access the account, the very first step is to ask for the credentials from the user. If the user enters correct credentials, he can successfully access his mail account. Basic authentication and form-based authentication are two main approaches that can be used to authenticate the user.
