SOAP web service

Simple Object Access Protocol is an open standard, XML-based protocol that exchanges information using messaging between the web service and the client. The SOAP messages written in XML facilitates it to be platform-independent and it provides an effective means for data transportation. The client and the server are bound to each other through the Web Service Description Language (WSDL) contract. The SOAP web services are difficult to maintain as, whenever the WSDL changes, the developers need to recreate the stub. One needs to understand XML-based WSDL and client stub to understand the web service, which makes it a bit hard to learn.
