Boas Betzler—IBM Systems & Technology Group, Senior Technical Staff Member and Architect and Designer for the Digital Convergence organization. Boas is an expert on virtual worlds and digital media that is transforming our world. He provided content, many of the anecdotes, and data points that helped create Chapter 12, “Mobile Security,” with great technical depth in the area of 3D Worlds.

Bill Bodin—IBM Distinguished Engineer, Master Inventor, and holder of many patents across a broad range of technologies. Bill is an expert on mobility solutions, and he provided knowledge, data points, content and insight on the ways mobile solutions are transforming the enterprise. His contributions to Chapter 12 were invaluable. I’m also grateful to Bill for all the mobility transformations he did to support my team at IBM, which not only made us more efficient, but also provided valuable data points for this book.

Christopher Douglass—veteran mobile technology professional. As a Global Mobility Solutions Executive at IBM, Christopher served as a key member of IBM’s Global Communications Sector team. With his extensive industry knowledge and experience, he was a valued advisor to me as I explored the impact of the emerging 4G market on social networking. His expertise in leading-edge mobile solutions added depth and clarity in the area of 4G to Chapter 12.

Brian Goodman—IBM senior technical staff member and manager of the Cloud Engineering and Experience team. Brian provided a wealth of information and content regarding open source software in Chapter 8, “On the Shoulders of Giants,” and the importance of agile development methodology in the context of open source. Also, his team collected the data that made possible many of the wiki and blog charts in this book.

Reed Mullen and Carl Burnett—Technical members of the IBM Systems and Technology Group and experts in virtualization technology. They provided fantastic data points for Chapter 6, “Cloud Computing Paradigm,” that helped quantify the value of virtualization.

Dave Newbold—IBM Distinguished Engineer, Technology and Innovation, IBM CIO organization. Dave is a well-recognized expert in the area of collaboration and social software. He designed many of the IT collaboration tools IBM uses today and provided incredible stories and content related to tagging and expertise location mentioned in Chapter 5, “Tagging and Social Clouds.” In addition he supported me with many data points and advice. I’m indebted to him for his collaboration and support.

Mahesh Paradkar—IBM Software Group, Information Management Consultant—Collaboration Technologies program manager. He was the leader of the team that provided great perspectives about the India social networking transformation mentioned in Chapter 12.

Gina Poole—IBM Software Group, marketing vice president of Social Software Programs and Enablement. Gina was the change agent behind the IBM ThinkPlace® transformation and has a wealth of experience in social software. She provided invaluable insight and content for Chapter 9, “Social Brain and the Ideation Process,” and Chapter 10, “Social Innovation,” regarding the ideation process and social software transformation. She was also a constant inspiration for the book, which helped keep me focused.

Michael Roche, IBM Software Group, Lotus®Senior technical staff member and chief architect of the Dublin Software Lab. He provided many of the anecdotes and content regarding social organizations, including the Rheinmetall content in Chapter 2, “Social Age Organizations.”

Laurisa Rodriguez—Laurisa is a recognized social software advocate and provided great insight and extensive content for new media discussed in Chapter 7, “Social Media and Culture.”
