About This Book

Purpose

This book teaches health-care executives, managers, providers, and business analysts how to use SAS Business Intelligence (BI) tools to convert data into knowledge and value at all levels in the health-care industry.

It demonstrates how SAS BI solutions can be applied to the health-care industry and offers detailed explanations of code and tasks in an approachable case study format. All applications are created with sample data that has the richness and complexity of operational health-care data.

This book is intended for SAS users in the health-care field, including financial, actuarial, and general analysts; researchers; statisticians; and graduate students, in the following industries: insurance, hospital networks, state and county departments of health, health-care exchanges, health-care watchdog organizations, health economics university departments, and Centers of Medicare and Medicaid Services.

Prerequisites

No prior knowledge of SAS programming or BI is required to benefit from this book. Some previous experience with SAS macro programming is helpful in understanding and implementing select applications from Chapter 2.
