Acknowledgments

From Daryl Wise

I would like to acknowledge the following individuals who helped make this book possible. First, I need to sincerely thank the amazing, creative, passionate, and talented artists who agreed to participate in this book. This book is all about artists and their art, and I appreciate them taking the time in their busy day to jump through all the hoops to make this book rich, interesting, inspiring, and informative.

Thank you to my friend and book partner, Marina Anderson. She worked long hours and got everything in on time and in good shape for the editors. Her background in computer graphics was a great asset, and I appreciate working with her.

Also, I want to thank the team from Cengage Learning who steered us in the right direction throughout the entire book-writing process. Thank you to acquisitions editor Heather Hurley, who has always supported me and my books; project editor Karen Gill who, with her devotion to the written word, took what was written by me, Marina, and the artists and then molded and sculpted the text like a ZBrush artist to create this amazing book; tech editor Ramona Lafountain, whom we depended on for her ZBrush expertise, and layout editor Shawn Morningstar, whose eye for design and detail always makes my books look good. I always felt that the Cengage Learning team really enjoyed working on this book and “got” what I was trying to present. They are experts and art lovers, too.

And, of course, this book would not be possible without the professional and devoted team at Pixologic. They have created an artist’s tool that constantly evolves and gets better with each release, making it a standard in the creative industry. Thank you to Jaime Labelle, Paul Gaboury, Ofer Alon, and the rest of the team!

I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to put this book together!

From Marina Anderson

It’s been exciting to work on this book with all the creative people whom I now want to thank. First, I want to thank the artists across the globe who gave their time and generously shared their expertise with all of us in their tutorials within this book and created such outstanding artwork. Their creativity and passion made this book possible.

Second, an enormous thank you to my coauthor, Daryl Wise, for inviting me to be part of this project. He has been amazing to work with, and I have learned so much from him. His vision for this project and the set of books he has been creating puts so much gold dust in one pot.

Third, I want to acknowledge the Cengage Learning book team, who was a pleasure to work with. Thank you to Heather Hurley, who oversaw our work and kept us in line, and Karen Gill, whose unrelenting hard work and sharp eye made sure that our writing was first class. Also, a big shout out to our tech editor, Ramona Lafountain, and to our layout person, Shawn Morningstar. Thank you so much!

Fourth, I really want to thank the Pixologic team for creating ZBrush. They have unleashed a monster package that has enabled and inspired artists and given them the tools to unleash their creativity and skill set. It is an exciting time in the art and digital world. I’m looking forward to all the new art and digital innovations on the way and can’t wait to see the work of artists inspired by the contents of this book.

And on a personal note, lots of respect and love to Inge Schaefer, my soul sister; Jeff Cantanhede, my soul prince; and Louis Anderson, my beautiful son. Thank you for all the silly road trips, life adventures, and all your love and support.
