Loading Your Data

Universal Containers has been in business for a while, so they have some open positions already. Once again, you import data from an existing source to populate the Position object using the Import Wizard.

This is the last time you use the Import Wizard in this book, to take advantage of the ability of that tool to link to values in the Record Name. In your normal operations, you will probably use Data Loader most of the time, utilizing an External ID when appropriate to establish relationships while loading.

1.	Click Setup Data Management Import Custom Objects.
2.	Click the Import Wizard link and select the Position object. Click Next.
3.	Leave the default choice for duplicates and click Next.
4.	Select None as the field used to designate the owner of the record.
5.	Select both Location and Hiring Manager as lookup fields that are included in the import file and click Next.
6.	Leave the default mappings for the lookup fields selected on the next page and click Next.
7.	Select the file Postitions.csv to load. Refer to the directions in the Code Share project for this book, as described in Chapter 1: Welcome to the Force Platform, to obtain the file. Click Next.
8.	Match the fields in the csv file with like-named fields in the Positions object and click Next.
9.	Click Import Now! to load the records into the Positions object.

You have just integrated your existing data into your Force Platform database. Now you will polish up some aspects of the user interface.
