In this chapter, you learned about one of the most powerful data-driven features of the Force Platform platform—relationships. Although you have probably been using related data objects in your development work for quite a while, the Force Platform automatically adds powerful functionality to your applications based on these relationships.

You can choose to define either lookup relationships or master-detail relationships, as well as implementing one-to-many, or many-to-many relationships.

Finally, you saw how Roll-up Summary fields can blend in aggregate information from children to the master in a master-detail relationship, all through the simple act of definition.

In the next chapter, you will learn how to use features of the Force Platform to extend the data available to users, and to insure the all-important integrity of that data.
