The logical operational model gives you required design components to get the functional objective:

Logical structure view

Cloud design consists of two different components:

  • Central cloud: The users and service providers are used to manage the entire cloud as well as one or more associated cloud regions through central cloud. Central cloud has the self-service portal, and additional cloud regions are added to provide remote sites. Each cloud region is part of the central cloud for management perspectives. vSphere environments (On premises) are connected to SoftLayer with a VPN connection over the internet or dedicated links to form additional cloud regions.

The components interact with each other within a central cloud as follows:

Both the central cloud and any additional cloud regions can be built on SoftLayer.

The central cloud hosts the primary portal through which users access the cloud services. It has connections to all remote regions.
