In This Chapter
Newsstand gathers all your magazine and newspaper app subscriptions in a central place. Newsstand itself isn’t an app: It’s actually a special folder that’s created and maintained by your iPad. You can’t delete Newsstand or drag it into another folder.
Each publication in Newsstand is a stand-alone app, which you can download from the App Store the way you do any other app. The quickest way to get to the store is to tap Newsstand and then tap the Store button . Alternatively, open App Store, tap Top Charts or Categories (at the bottom of the screen), and then choose the Newsstand category.
Tapping a publication’s app opens its own home screen, showing past and current issues . You can buy an autorenewable subscription or buy single issues as individual in-app purchases. Purchases are billed to your Apple ID account.
To get help for a publication, see the app’s built-in help or its Info screen in App Store.
Newsstand-compatible apps move into Newsstand automatically. You can’t drag other publications (or books) into Newsstand. If a subscription app or publication doesn’t appear in Newsstand, the publisher hasn’t enabled that app for Newsstand.
An alert badge, in the form of a small number in a red circle, appears on the Newsstand icon when new issues arrive. Newsstand updates subscriptions (downloads new issues) over only Wi-Fi—not cellular connections.
• Tap Settings > Store.
Some publication apps have additional settings; look in the left column of the Settings screen.
1. Touch and hold any app icon for a few seconds until all the icons wiggle.
2. Drag icons to new locations within Newsstand.
3. Press the Home button.
