Image Calendar keeps you on schedule and lets you track your life’s important events. Use it to:

• View individual calendars or multiple color-coded calendars at the same time.

• View, search, and edit recent and upcoming events, and add new events.

• View events and birthdays by day, week, month, or year, or as a list.

• Set custom alerts for important events.

• Send and receive meeting invitations.

• Sync calendars by using iCloud or iTunes.

• Subscribe to calendars published online.

Viewing Your Calendars

You can view calendars individually or as a single combined calendar, which makes it easy to manage work and personal calendars at the same time Image.

Image Calendar resembles a desktop calendar, hanging wall calendar, or appointment book, depending on which view you choose.


Tip

Flick left or right to move from day to day, week to week, or year to year.


Adding, Editing, and Searching Events

You can add, update, delete, and search for events on any of your calendars, and set Calendar to alert you to upcoming events.

To add an event:

• Tap Image, enter the event information, and then tap Done Image.

Image Tapping a field shows the onscreen keyboard or specialized controls for choosing dates, times, durations, or calendars.

The event appears on whichever calendar you selected.


Tip

To set the default calendar for events, tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Default Calendar.


To set up alerts for events:

• To set the default alert time for events, tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Default Alert Times.

or

To make alerts appear as notifications, tap Settings > Notifications > Calendar > Notifications Center > On. (For details, see “Getting Notifications” in Chapter 4.)

or

To play audio alerts, tap Settings > General > Sounds > Calendar Alerts. (If your iPad is turned off, a text alert appears when you turn it on, but audio doesn’t play.)

To edit an event:

1. Tap the event.

2. If a small summary window opens, tap Edit Image.

Image In Week or Month view, tapping an event pops open a small summary window. Tap Edit to show the full-size Edit window.

3. In the Edit window, change the event information.

The Edit window is the same as the Add Event window Image.

4. Tap Done.


Tip

To change an event’s time or duration quickly, touch and hold the event to select it, and then drag it to a new time, or drag the grab points (small circles) to change its duration.


To delete an event:

1. Tap the event.

2. Tap Edit (if necessary).

3. Scroll to the bottom of the Edit window, and tap Delete Event Image.

To search for events

1. Tap the Search field in the top-right corner of the screen and then type one or more keywords.

Calendar searches the events for the calendars that you’re currently viewing. You can search the titles, invitees, locations, and notes fields of events.

To clear the Search field, tap Image in that field.

2. Tap an event in the Results window Image.

Image As you type, a Results window opens to show matching events.

If necessary, flick up or down to scroll the window. If too many events are listed, you can redo your search by adding or refining keywords in the Search field.


Tip

You can also search for Calendar events from the Home screen. See “Searching Your iPad” in Chapter 2.


Syncing Calendars

When you have multiple devices, you can use iCloud to sync your calendars across them. Update your schedule in one place and see your changes everywhere. For details, see “Using iCloud” in Chapter 4.

To sync your calendars across all your computers and iDevices, tap Settings > iCloud > Calendar > On. To sync past events, tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Sync (below Calendars). Future events are always synced.
