Move tool example

The Move tool moves selections, layers, and guides.

Marquee tool example

The lasso tools make freehand, polygonal (straight-edged), and magnetic (snap-to) selections.

Object Selection tool example

The Object Selection tool creates a tight selection when you click it over a subject it identifies or after you drag it around a subject.

Quick Selection tool example

The Quick Selection tool lets you quickly “paint” a selection defined by edges and contrast.

Magic Wand tool example

The Magic Wand tool selects similarly colored areas.

Crop tool example

The crop tools trim, straighten, and change the perspective of images.

Frame tool example

The Frame tool creates placeholder rectangles so you can design now and drop in final artwork later.

The Art History Brush tool paints stylized strokes that simulate the look of different paint styles.

Eraser tool example

The Eraser tool replaces pixels with the current background color (for a Background layer) or with transparency (for a non-Background pixel layer).

Background Eraser tool example

The Background Eraser tool replaces pixels with transparency, detecting the background by sampling the color you first drag over.

The Magic Eraser tool replaces similarly colored areas with transparency in one click.
