Appendix C. Using the Tutorial Files

A selected number of files designed to help you work through the steps in each chapter are available for download from a companion Web site provided by Peachpit/Adobe Press. Open your Web browser and type the following URL in the Location bar: http://www.peachpit.com/adobereader7. The files appearing at this URL include:

  • TutorialFiles.sitx (24.8 MB). This is a compressed archive containing all the files you need to follow the steps in the book. Use StuffIt Expander for Windows or the Macintosh to decompress the archive.

  • TutorialFiles.zip (24.7 MB). The same files are compressed as a Zip file. Use WinZip or StuffIt Expander to decompress the files.

  • TutorialFiles (28.5 MB). This folder is not compressed. It contains all the PDF files in an uncompressed version. Click the individual files you want to download. You may find that you prefer using your own files to follow steps and therefore don't need all the files on the companion Web site. Open this folder and download the files you need, or download all files if you don't have WinZip or StuffIt Expander to decompress either archive listed above.

The following table lists the chapters in this book and the files provided for you to complete the exercises. Note that you may not see a .pdf extension when you download the files—it depends on whether you have your operating system set to hide extensions. Adobe Reader can open the files regardless of whether the filename extension is visible.

Web sites change periodically. If the URL listed here for acquiring tax forms is no longer usable, go to the main Web site at http://www.irs.gov and check the Web pages for links to forms. You may have to do a little searching, but eventually you should be able to locate a current tax form to use in the exercises in Chapter 19, “Working with PDF Forms.”
