APPENDIX A: OTHER PUBLICATIONS BY THE AUTHOR

In HindsightA compendium of Business Continuity case studies

This book went to number one on the Amazon bestsellers lists when first launched.

“I wanted to send you a note of congratulations on your book, which I’ve just had the pleasure of reading. I think it is a very useful contribution to available literature and hopefully will lead to an appreciation of why BCM is essential.

Dr Kevin Pollock MBCI

“Not just BCM, I would also recommend this book to Emergency Planners and any public event planners. It is well researched, authenticated information, and contains a treasure trove of collective experience that will aid the planning process.”

John Ball AFBCI

I am constantly amazed by the number of executives who dismiss potential disasters as being too unlikely to consider, or who put off dealing with known risks because they have other things to worry about. This book is full of these people, and what happens in the case studies provides ample evidence to counter their complacency.”

Validating Your Business Continuity Plan – Ensuring your BCP actually works

“If there exists a warm, friendly book about business continuity, then this is it. Reading this book is like having an elderly but very experienced uncle teaching you about the subject, sharing their experience, the lessons they have learned and (business continuity) war stories.

Charlie Maclean-Bristol FBCI FEPS

“I wish I’d had a copy of this book when I started out in Business Continuity. It certainly deserves the ‘must read’ tagline and should form part of the essential library of anyone involved in the validation of Business Continuity Plans.”

Mark Fenech BSc MBA CRISC MBCI

“I found your book very interesting and am happy that I could add to its great value. I wish you all the success in publishing it.

Business continuity and the Pandemic Threat – Potentially the biggest survival challenge facing organisations

A world bestseller

“I thoroughly enjoyed reading Clark’s book which is written in a style that makes it easy for anyone to understand without requiring a background in medicine or business. I have been involved in disaster management planning for the past ten years and yet I still found this book both enlightening and extremely informative.

Dr Tanya Mellilo MD, MSc (Dist) PhD

“Having known Rob Clark for several years, and spoken to him on numerous occasions about the many aspects of the business continuity world – the breadth of knowledge, analysis of the subject and the well-balanced presentation of this volume comes as no surprise. This informative book is written in an easy going and conversational manner, but the message it brings to the table is critical to understanding the meaning of any forthcoming pandemic threat and considerations of how to mitigate the effects, where possible, to you and your organisation.”.”

Owen Gregory MSc BA (Hons) MBCI MBCS

“Bob Clark is the real deal. His book demonstrates a predictive understanding of our current threat environment as well as our personal & corporate vulnerabilities to it. Knowledge is power ... read and prevail.”

Crisis Management – Is Social Media its new best friend or its worst nightmare?

“I have known Robert Clark for over 10 years, and I am very familiar with the other books he has written. Even though he has already reached the Number One position on the Amazon bestsellers lists with his book In Hindsight: A compendium of Business Continuity case studies, I firmly” believe that this is his best work to date.

Catherine Feeney MSc FIH JP

“I read your book and I am enthusiastic about the content in regard to social media, social media behaviour and crisis management. Business Continuity managers, crisis or social media team members should read this book to better prepare themselves to face a crisis thereby enabling themselves to make social media a friend. If they don’t appreciate the potential for disruptive power that social media has, it can result in a nightmare for their organization during a crisis. The case studies are very relevant and useful.”

ICT Disaster Recovery – Entering the 5th Age of Computing

Clark is the author of the book with the working title ICT Disaster Recovery – Entering the 5th Age of Computing’.

From a commercial perspective, ICT Disaster Recovery used to be solely the domain of large organisations and the concept was almost exclusively embraced by the financial sector. The sheer magnitude of the financial investment required simply made it inaccessible to just about everyone except the corporate giants.

Today, advances in technology means that every organisation from the one-man-band upwards can now easily and inexpensively protect and recover their information technology environments.

This book will examine ICT disaster recovery, the origin of business continuity management and how it has evolved from its embryonic state in the late 1960s and early 1970s through to the modern era. It will go on to consider how IT disaster recovery is being influenced by the arrival of the 5th generation of computing.

With his career in IT starting long before the expression ‘BCM’ had even been coined, the author has seen the evolution of BCM from its origins in ICT disaster recovery, through to its coming of age with the launch of the international standards ISO 22301 and ISO 27031. With his substantial hands-on IT experience, as well as a being a Fellow of the British Computer Society and a Fellow of the Institute of Business Continuity Management, he is well placed to take the reader by the hand through this fascinating journey.
