The leather industry has the inconve-
nience of being a market sector with a
more limited offer than the fabric sec-
tor, since it is a business dependent
upon cattle. In Europe, for example,
the practical disappearance of the pri-
mary economy—based on agriculture
and ranching—has had an impact on
leather. Countries that stand out as
suppliers of quality leather are India
and Brazil.
Innovation is equally important in
this field especially regarding meth-
ods that grant leather more flexibility,
lightness, resistance, and softness,
although obtaining new textures and
colors is also valued.
In the case of footwear, in addition to
leather and accessories, it is also nec-
essary to purchase other components
such as soles and heels that play a
crucial role in the final design.
To access suppliers of raw materials,
one can turn to an association of
textile businesses or simply attend a
textile fair.
TEXTILE FAIRS
Fairs are events organized annually or
biannually with the aim of promoting a
fashion sector where the main manu-
facturers and suppliers have the oppor-
tunity to show their products in exhibi-
tions or stands, gaining new clients in
