FAEDRAGH CARPENTER

I was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, and I’ve always loved taking advantage of the province’s beautiful outdoor setting. Specifically, I love taking long walks along our beautiful seawall and breathing in that fresh ocean air! Professionally, I work as a psychiatric nurse and specialize in working with individuals who struggle with mental health and addiction issues. I love the challenges and rewards of my job, and I love being a part of people’s journeys in recovery.

I took a real interest in fitness in grade 12 when I joined the community center gym across from my high school. Over the years, I developed a passion for running and I’ve so far competed in two half-marathons. I love that with fitness and exercise you can set goals for yourself and crush them! And that natural endorphin release through exercise isn’t too shabby either! More importantly—and why I was so excited to take part in a book like this—fitness really is for everybody. Regardless of your ability, there are always variations an individual can make to maintain an exercise routine.

Being almost 9 months pregnant when these photos were taken, I was still able to do lots of the exercises I love—just with some slight modifications. With exercise, there’s so much variability and you don’t need to have an expensive gym pass to take part. If this is your first time attempting some sort of fitness routine, don’t be intimidated. We all have to start somewhere. Start by setting small goals for yourself and build from there. You’ll be amazed at how fast you crush them. Good luck!
