Big objects support a subset of the standard Salesforce REST API (including Salesforce Bulk API) and Apex Database class methods, such as insertImmediate, in order to insert and delete data, as well as two subsets of the SOQL syntax for use with synchronous and asynchronous queries. These APIs allow for a variety of ways to ingest big data in bulk or in real time and then query that data synchronously or asynchronously, as needed. In the following sections, we will review these various read and write access patterns further.
