Using AutoFormat and Customizing Report Styles

The AutoFormat toolbar button works the same way for reports as for forms. Chapter 12, "Creating and Using Forms," contains a detailed, step-by-step explanation of how to use Access 97's AutoFormat button and customize the predefined AutoFormat styles or create your own AutoFormat styles. Follow the instructions in the Using AutoFormat section of Chapter 12 to apply an AutoFormat style to a report or define or customize a report AutoFormat style. Access stores styles for reports and forms separately, so you'll need to create separate AutoFormat styles for your reports.

As with forms, to create an AutoFormat style for customized reports, you must first create a report that contains controls that are formatted the way you want for your new style. You click the AutoFormat button on the toolbar and then click the Customize button in the AutoFormat dialog to customize the format.
