Next Steps

In this chapter, you made a little more headway with the Val’s Revenge game. You added some additional components and extensions, making it possible for Val to collect or destroy items and unlock doors.

You also worked a bit with states and state machines by adding a simple player state machine with two distinct states. Although it may not be evident now, states and state machines are a great way to manage your game states and keep your code clean and concise, which is especially important for larger, more complex games. You’ll see more evidence of this in the next chapter as you get to work on adding some much-needed AI and pathfinding to to your dungeon monsters.
