After presenting your portfolio, take
the time to write a handwritten thank
you note. That’s right, the good
old-fashioned thank-you written on
your company letterhead or personal-
ized stationery. Be sure to thank
your prospective client or employer
for taking the time to review your
portfolio. Don’t waste time reiterating
your exemplary talent and services.
Rather, make it short, sweet, and to
the point.
If your prospect hasn’t given you a
timeline for getting back to you, give
them a call about a week after your
portfolio presentation. That way, your
portfolio will still be fresh in their mind,
and you won’t appear desperate.
Again, thank them for the opportunity
to present your portfolio and ask if
they have any additional questions.
The resulting conversation will give you
a good idea if you made the cut. Of
course, if you don’t make it, ask why.
Inquire about what your portfolio may
be lacking and how it compared to
others. Taking the initiative to improve
your portfolio presentation will illustrate
to a prospective client or employee
that you take your portfolio seriously.
Keep developing your sales skills to
ensure that you have done all that you
can for your customer—your future
depends on it.
