Chapter 12
Organization
In This Chapter
Knowing the difference between roles and jobs
Knowing where people are appointed to the project management team
Key revision areas to watch out for
Understanding the Organization theme is fundamental to understanding PRINCE2. At the time of writing this book, there aren’t too many questions on roles in the Foundation exam question pool, but there’s always a full section on it in the Practitioner exam. However, if the examiners ever read these words they may decide to boost the Foundation pool, so don’t think you can safely leave the area out of your revision.
For the Practitioner exam, you’ll be facing a full section of 12 questions on Organization, and it’s highly likely that you’ll have additional project scenario information to read. What’s more, the additional scenario is likely to be substantial and longer than in any other section of the exam. The size can be up to about one and a half sides of A4; the large amount of text is because often you’re given a list of people with a paragraph of information about each person. From that list, you may be asked to select suitable people to fill roles in the project. In many instances, you’re asked to select just one person for each role, but occasionally you may get questions where you’re asked to select two people who may be suitable to consider for a particular role. Such questions, obviously enough, are to check whether you understand the PRINCE2 roles and the suitability of people to fill them, such as the Senior Supplier on the Project Board being a manager who is in a position to allocate staff resource for the project teams.
