The Seventeenth Release of AutoCAD

The key features of AutoCAD 2002 can generally be divided into five major categories. It is the purpose of this first chapter to take a brief look at these categories and some of the specific tools and capabilities that they contribute to AutoCAD 2002. These categories encompass:

• Improvements made to Internet connectivity and publication options

• Enhancements to systems and file access features

• Output methods that have been empowered in this release

• Functionality of popular commands have been increased

• Modifiers for objects are now strengthened

This chapter presents an overview of features introduced in AutoCAD 2000i and the new features of AutoCAD 2002. Such a chapter should prove useful to veteran AutoCAD users as each feature or usability improvement is briefly described and, where appropriate, illustrated. Each feature is, of course, covered in more detail in later chapters and chapter references are included.
