The SELECT statement is used to select individual columns (with the exception of *, which can be used to select all columns in a table). In BigQuery, it is not encouraged to use SELECT * when querying tables because BigQuery bills projects by the number of bytes searched, and if we add all columns, then all of the data in the table will be searched for the query.
