10.6 Summary

This chapter presents different types of terms that can be included in the cost function. Some examples are included to illustrate each type. The cost function terms can be classified as reference following, actuation constraints, hard constraints, and spectral content terms. These terms constitute the building blocks that allow the system requirements to be expressed in the form of a cost function.
