This chapter provides details on the Mystery Dimension Bonus Level that becomes available on the lower-right level of Vorton after you obtain 24 gold bricks.
When the heroes exit the gateway, they find themselves in a very mysterious world indeed (Figure 36.1)! A flat brown surface has large, odd objects to the left and the right. Before the heroes can explore, however, a series of attacks begin.
There are 14 gold bricks to obtain in this world. You get one gold brick as a reward for defeating three waves of enemies in each world. In each case, Wave 1 consists of a small number of attackers but Wave 2 and Wave 3 get progressively more difficult.
In these waves, enemies from the various worlds you have unlocked attack, including the following:
The Lord of the Rings
DC Universe
The Wizard of Oz
Ninjago
Doctor Who
Scooby-Doo
Jurassic World
The Simpsons
Portal 2
Chima
Back to the Future
Ghostbusters
Midway Arcade
After you defeat three waves for each of the unlocked worlds, sit back and enjoy a humorous video (Figure 36.2), in which Batman, Wyldstyle, and Gandalf meet a living, breathing human! (That’s Joel McHale, who also provides the voice for X-PO.)
Congratulations! If you’ve read (and played) through all the previous chapters, you’ve visited all the Dimensions worlds (with the exception of Midway Arcade that wasn’t yet released, but should be by the time this book is in your hands), helped defeat Lord Vortech, and discovered many secrets and hidden locales and gold bricks and... well, the list goes on and on.
LEGO Dimensions is one of those games that can be played over and over again. With 44 characters to pick from, there’s an amazingly large combination of heroes you can use to play through the levels and visit the various worlds. Trade characters with your friends and try out some new powers. Better yet, combine characters you own and team up to fight off baddies in the Mystery Dimension or just pick a world and go explore. Make sure to hunt down every gold brick (480 of them in all!) and every minikit, and then go play the bonus quests that become available in each world after you’ve discovered all of a world’s minikits.
Of course, there are secrets on top of secrets; your author is still finding them today. And one of the biggest secrets is the fate of Lord Vortech. Is he gone for good? Probably not. Which means there could very well be a LEGO Dimensions 2 in the future, with plenty of new characters and worlds to visit and secrets to uncover.
Have fun with LEGO Dimensions!
