Saving the image as a separation

In this part of the lesson, you’ll learn how to save the image as a separation, so that it can print out on separate cyan, magenta, yellow, and black plates.

1.
With 18Start.tif still selected, choose File > Save As.

2.
In the Save As dialog box, select the following options:

  • On the Format pop-up menu, select Photoshop EPS.

  • Under Save Options, for Color, select the Use Proof Setup: Working CMYK check box.

    Note

These settings cause the image to be automatically converted from RGB to CMYK when it is saved in the Photoshop Encapsulated PostScript (EPS) format.

3.
Name the file 18Start.eps and click Save.

4.
Click OK on the EPS Options dialog box that appears.

5.
Choose File > Open, and open the 18Start.eps file, located in the Lessons/Lesson 18 folder.

Notice that 18Start.eps is now a CMYK file.

6.
Choose File > Save and then close the 18Start.tif and 18Start copy.tif.

Now only the 18Start.eps file is open in Photoshop.
