Edmund Ryden, PhD (SOAS, London University), teaches in the Law Department at Fujen University, Taiwan. He translated Zhang Dainian’s Key Concepts in Chinese Philosophy (Yale University Press, 2002) and Chen Lai’s Tradition and Modernity (Brill, 2009), as well as the Laozi: Daodejing (Oxford University Press, 2008). Sun Zhe is a professor in the Department of International Studies, and the director of the Center for U.S.-China Relations at Tsinghua University (Beijing). He is the author and editor of eighteen books on comparative politics and U.S.-China relations. He received his PhD in political science from Columbia University in 2000.

Wang Rihua is an associate professor of political philosophy at Guandong School of Administration (Guangzhou, China). He received his PhD from Peking University in 2008. His current research focuses on ancient Chinese international thought and foreign policy. E-mail: [email protected].

Xu Jin is a research fellow at the Institute of World Economics and Politics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He received his PhD from the International Relations Department at Tsinghua University in 2008. His current research focuses on traditional Chinese international political thought, Chinese foreign policy, and the law of war. E-mail: [email protected].

Yan Xuetong is a professor and director of the Department of International Studies, Tsinghua University (Beijing), and the editor in chief of the Chinese Journal of International Politics. Before joining Tsinghua University, he was a senior fellow at the Institute of Contemporary International Relations during 1992–2000. He also serves as a vice chairman of the China Association of International Relations Studies as well as the China Association of American Studies, and as a board member of several organizations, including the China Diplomacy Association, the China Association of Peaceful Unification, the China UN Association, the China Arms Control Association, the China-U.S. Friendship Association, and the China Association of Asia-Pacific Studies. He is the author and editor of eighteen books on international relations theory, international security, and Chinese foreign policy. Professor Yan received his PhD in political science from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1992. E-mail: [email protected].

Yang Qianru is a postdoctoral researcher in the Chinese Traditional Culture School at Renmin University of China (Beijing).
