In Azure Stack, virtual machines (VMs) can be placed in a logical grouping called an availability set. When you create VMs within an availability set, the Azure Stack platform distributes the placement of these VMs across the underlying infrastructure. Naming convention should follow almost the same principle as virtual networks. Therefore, we recommend the following naming convention:

• Company
• Region
• Availability sets (avset01 - n)
• Application or VM
