Summary

In this chapter, we understood how remote sensing images are represented inside the computer as arrays and how we can use this characteristic to process them. We saw that, in order to use images on a map, it is common that we need to transform them to achieve better results. Then, we wrote processing functions to process the digital elevation model images, ending with a beautiful shaded relief map. Finally, we created a RasterData class and transformed our functions into the methods of this class. With a few additional changes, we made it possible to chain these methods into a processing pipeline.

In the next chapter, we will explore the data in the images and obtain valuable information.
