When taking a snapshot of the EBS volume, the snapshot can get stuck in a Pending state. This might indicate a problem with the gateway VM or the state of the volume might have changed to PASS THROUGH or IRRECOVERABLE. In such cases, it is advisable to delete the snapshot and wait till the volume comes back to the AVAILABLE state.

The snapshot operation can then be re-initiated.
