Once you’ve got the base colors, you can start painting in the details. In this case, it’s been kept pretty simple with flat colors, but you can add as much detail as you want (depending on what you want to achieve in terms of the character’s style).
If you look at the texture in Figure 9.5, you’ll see how some details were added, such as the thick gray lines in the clothing seams, the symbol on the badge, a darker lip color, and a little blush in the cheeks. You can also add some soft shadows where you think they will fit, as well as wrinkles to the cloth and other small details.
