Similar to the cloth simulation, this feature is for rigid and soft objects. If you need to make a house fall down or destroy a wall, divide the object into pieces and, in the Physics panel, make those pieces rigid bodies. You can bind the objects to each other to define how they behave and limit the range of movements they can perform to simulate the force of gravity on them.
When you need to make an object behave as if it had weight, you can run a rigid body simulation and Blender will simulate gravity and object interactions in a realistic manner for you. Also, you can define other objects as obstacles so the rigid or soft bodies collide with them.
Soft bodies are similar to rigid ones, except they can also be deformed. For example, using soft bodies you can simulate an object behaving like jelly.
