Authors’ Acknowledgments

Rosemarie Withee and Ken Withee: We would like to acknowledge our families in both the United States and Philippines. An extraordinary amount of special thanks to Katie Mohr, Pat O’Brien, Elaine Marmel, Antony Sami, and the rest of the For Dummies team for providing more support than I ever thought possible. It is truly amazing how much work goes into a single book.

We would also like to thank the Portal Integrators team in Laguna, Philippines for their hard work, dedication, and late nights. They are truly an extraordinary team and we are very lucky to work with them. A little about them below, in alphabetical order:

Ace Cyrille Gatcion earned a degree of Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Laguna College, and has been a Web developer in Portal Integrators for two years. He specializes in programming with JavaScript and PHP and has also been a Microsoft Certified Professional and Specialist in HTML5 with JavaScript and CSS3 since May 2014. Ace has also just recently finished leading a SharePoint-based project which has been one of the biggest challenges he has faced and conquered. When he’s not working, he de-stresses by playing with his beloved Siamese cat, and working on his photo editing skills.

Genelyn “Gen” Ancheta is a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from Colegio de San Juan de Letran. She is a tireless seeker of knowledge, a thinker, and incidentally, also a Web developer with Portal Integrators. Gen has more than ten years of Web, Mobile, and Database development experience. She is a Microsoft Certified Solutions Developer specializing in SharePoint Applications. She loves listening to music, and when she is not busy debugging codes, she indulges in watching movies and TV series.

Jeff Michael De Las Alas is a developer with Portal Integrators who has finished his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Laguna College. Before being with Portal Integrators, he has also worked as an intern in a Cable TV company from his hometown. Jeff’s passion in his chosen field was shown when he received several awards from his college including Best in Thesis, Excellence in Programming, and a Leadership award. Achievements aside, Jeff is just a regular guy who likes watching anime in his free time.

Mariel Pamulaklakin is a developer at Portal Integrators. She graduated from the University of the Philippines – Los Baños with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. She has been with Portal Integrators for over 2 years, continuously honing her skills in Web and mobile development in the company. She is also a Microsoft Certified Professional and a Specialist in Programming in HTML5 with JavaScript and CSS3. Outside of work, Mariel is a church choir member, a dog-lover, and a self-confessed nerd who dreams of traveling the world in the near future.

Marriel Bondad is a Bachelor of Science in Information Technology graduate from Laguna College. She is a developer with Portal Integrators, and has worked as an intern in a local government office. She can be described as a responsible and diligent person when it comes to her career, which was proven by her achievements as a Best in Programming and Leadership awardee, and a scholarship grantee. Marriel has also served as president of the Junior Philippine Computer Society – Laguna College Chapter. Outside her professional life, she is a semi-introvert person and an aspiring photographer who often enjoys the adventurous side of life, discovering new places, and working on achieving her dreams.

Jennifer Reed: I owe my deepest gratitude to my husband Rick Reed for providing valuable feedback as my non-technical, test “dummy” reader and for helping me find my “voice.”

I am indebted to my clients, employers, co-workers, and friends for the opportunities to learn and enrich my life, and grateful that I can share those positive, relevant experiences in this book. I want to call out a colleague, Trevor Olson, for his support and advocacy of my efforts to move small businesses to the cloud.
