decorated napkin ring
What better way to dress up a table setting than with succulents? Whether you’re planning an event or just want to make dinner a little more special, these simple succulent-decorated napkin rings will add a touch of elegance. This tutorial shows you how to create your own napkin ring using wire and floral tape, but you can also decorate a premade wooden ring. Both options are easy to do and look great.
Materials
• Succulent cuttings (3 to 5 per ring)
• Floral wire
• Floral tape
• Wire cutters
• Scissors
• Ribbon
• Hot glue gun
• Wooden napkin ring (optional)
Remove the lower leaves from the succulent cuttings.
Cut a piece of wire about 1 foot (30.5cm) long, insert it through the stem, and bend it in half.
Twist the wire together. This strengthens and elongates the stem.
Wrap floral tape around the wire. Stretching the tape slightly makes it sticky, so it adheres to itself.
Create a long stem for each of the succulents you are using by repeating steps 2 through 4.
Align 3 to 5 succulents and cross the wire stems.
Use floral tape to secure two of the larger succulents together.
Add the rest of the succulents and secure them with floral tape.
Twist the wires together and then loop them in a circle.
Cover the loop with floral tape (and more wire if needed) to secure it.
Tie the ribbon to the top of the ring near the succulents.
Wrap the loop with ribbon.
Loop the ribbon between the succulents to cover any floral tape.
Tie off with a bow or use hot glue to secure it.
wooden napkin ring
Another option for creating a napkin ring with succulents is to use a premade wooden napkin ring and hot glue succulents on top. If you do this, try using a few hanging succulents with a larger succulent in the center. Be sure to cut the stem of the main succulent extremely short so that it sits almost flush with the wooden ring. You can also attach ribbon with the hot glue before adding the succulents.
