AUDIO FILE TYPES

WAV Waveform Audio File A common format for high-quality, uncompressed audio tracks. WAV formats typically result in a large file size.
AIFF Audio Interchange File A file format for high-quality uncompresssed tracks. AIFF formats typically result in a large file size.
MP3 MPEG Audio A popular format for compressed, smaller sized files.
M4A MPEG 4 Audio A compressed file format used by Apple iTunes and some voice memo programs. An M4A file can be played on a variety of platforms, though they are not always supported by video editing programs.

It is important to confirm that your editing software will support the file type you select.
