Avoid Showing an Open Palm

When it comes to showing your subject’s hands in the shot, there’s a simple rule to go by and that is to make sure your subject doesn’t show the inside (palms) of their hands. The outsides of the hands are fine, and can look very graceful and beautiful, but by and large, the insides of our hands are . . . well . . . let’s just say they’re not as beautiful, and they can become a distraction. So, keep an eye out to make sure your subjects are only showing the outsides or sides of their hands.
